repackaged perpetual debt

repackaged perpetual debt
Perpetual debt that carries a high rate of interest for a number of years and then bears no further interest (or only a nominal amount). The value of the debt is therefore negligible and the issuer will normally transfer it to a friendly third party so that it can be redeemed for a token amount.
